Why aren’t Shell and BP interested?
The projects are too scattered and small for the big guns. However Exxon are now actively seeking mineral rights for the future in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. They have recently purchased 750 Stripper Wells for $2.3B from a local producer in Louisiana.
How do you know that the oil is still there?
We have up to date geological surveys for all the areas we have leases on via The University of Kentucky Geological Survey Study department.
How do you know which wells are which?
Each and every well has been logged and mapped precisely and all data is freely available.
What happens if a well dries up?
This would be an extremely rare occurrence that normally involves re-fracturing or cleaning. We investigate the cause and if a remedy does not cure the situation we simply close it down.
Why wouldn’t the present landowner open his own wells?
The cost is prohibitive and the local population are living simple lives predominately farming. The process takes considerable funding knowledge and expertise. Many locals still operate their own wells as a cottage industry.
